Career College of Northern Nevada is making changes in response to the Corvid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Effective Monday, March 16, all on campus classes will shift to an online format. Students are advised to contact their instructors to obtain login credentials and continue their work, progressing to successful completion of all assignments, quizzes and tests. Any student who lacks the ability to get online can contact our IT department to discuss the best method to get online. You will need a device that has web browser capabilities. This could include a laptop, tablet, your phone or inexpensive Chromebook devices. You will also need access to your email through our ccnn.edu domain.

Veterans students: Guidance from the Veterans Administration tells us that any term that began in an on ground format that transitions to online due to an emergency action will continue to be eligible for tuition payments as well as housing until the end of that term if the college has secured State approval to offer online. We received that approval this morning (3/17/2020) so you should continue with your course-work. We understand that legislation has been introduced to address VA eligibility in wake of this national emergency. We will keep you informed, and we hope it becomes law before our next term begins on April 13, 2020.

Lab work that cannot be performed online must be done on campus. The campus remains open and staff and faculty are available. We ask that you contact your instructor to schedule your labs. Each class will be different, and we cannot give you a schedule as it has everything to do with your progression with assignments and quizzes. Our goal is to reduce the number of students on campus at any given time so that we can practice social distancing, following advice by CDC and WHO.

The current term that began on February 24 ends with a one-week break before the next term begins. We have decided to allow students that extra week to complete the current term. We understand there will be challenges for some students as we transition to online environment. If you complete your work by March 27, you may be eligible to take the final exam and be done, allowing you to continue with any plans you made for the break week. Those who cannot complete by that time may need to make adjustments in your plans. We understand the burden this places on you and your families and ask for your understanding as we all make sacrifices during this time.

For those who chose to come to the campus to complete work or access other services for students, we ask that you follow proper hygiene protocols. Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds. Cover your mouth if you cough. Keep a 6-foot distance from others when possible. Wash your hands again if you shake hands or come into contact with others.

We realize that many of you chose CCNN because you feel that hands-on, face-to-face is the best way for you to learn and we plan to go back to that format as soon as health officials inform us it is safe to do so. Rest assured, this is not a vacation period. You need to log into the Moodle Portal and do the work required. If you need assistance with that please contact your instructor or our IT department. Logging in to CCNN’s Moodle server is how we are taking attendance. In order to remain enrolled, you must attend regularly.
